Lots of movement with evolving rhythms and instrumentation hopefully make this tune an interesting journey. I find something new each time I listen. The title doesn't lie 'cause I wrote this in May and all was flowing smoothly. I especially like the fretless bass line and how it becomes the lead instrument in parts of the song. Beautiful World 4:09(The First One)
The mysteries and diverse beauty of the world are suggested in this composition. It takes me to an exotic place where I can’t help but move with the elements.
Cloudwalker 4:01(The First One)
Cloudwalker takes you on a cool journey with its natural, Native American feel. The middle of the song floats along the clouds while dancing with Great Spirit.
Dancing in Shanghai 3:41(The First One)
This one paints a great picture for me. I feel as if I’m in Asia, absorbed in its immense history and dancing with the joy of discovery.
Dreaming of You 4:19(The First One)
Originally recorded by Selena.
Enchanted 5:43(The First One)
This one's special. I envision walking the mountains on a cool day, wandering into a clearing where a lake meets the sky. The song evokes a great deal of introspection.
Get Me There 3:37(The First One)
This track's driving groove may have more commercial appeal as friends seem to love it. My buddy David's choice sax lines helped a lot. I might add vocals and surprise people!
Heart of the Swan 3:12(The First One)
This song, my first ballad in a long time, exudes romance and sensuality. I was inspired by the beauty of swans and their lifelong bond with a mate as they move effortlessly through changing waters.
HeavenLee Chill 3:53(The First One)
First “Chill” tune and I really enjoyed the challenge of less instrumentation, more space. A bit more going on here but I feel it fits the category. I like the overall ripple-on-the-water effect and I love liquidity in music that keeps on moving.
Mood Swings 4:07(The First One)
Moody, swinging...what else can I say?
Passage 3:47(The First One)
This very special piece moves through many phases leaving me uplifted and feeling victorious. Passage is all about pushing through and coming out shining.
Radio Dreams 5:33(The First One)
Probably one of my more driving beats is carrying the undertone of this tune yet I really feel the piano line and strings create a heartbeat on their own.
Tuscan Romance4:51(The First One)
Writing this, I imagined gliding over Italy's incredible mountains and coasts. Forgive me if hearing it makes me wanna grab that special lady and...
Spacial Interlude 1:41(The First One)
This short one throws some imagination with mystery while circling a planet… It’s short and sweet and could only be an intermezzo of sorts.
Take Flight 3:24(The First One)
I really enjoyed using a different lead instrument on this one and how the groove, along with David’s saxophone, took it on a bit of a warm “fusion” ride in places.
Talk to Me 3:31(The First One)
This one was co-written with my close good friend, David Carr, Jr. I had just picked up my new keyboard and went to Dave’s house to set it up. We were working on something else then I hit upon this nice really sweet keyboard sound, we put a groove to it - and this ballad came on like a freight train down the Rockies. We just moved out of the way and let it come through. So glad we did, it just proves how magic can happen spontaneously in the creative process…I think we all simply have to be ready to let it happen.
There's Always Hope 4:20(The First One)
This is a special song to me because it whispers “just hang in there.” The beginning paints a scene of the challenges we have all experienced; then the evolving guitar part brings a reflective, hopeful shift of optimism and joy.
You in the Mirror 5:25(The First One)
I'm partial to African slit drums and log drums in general. Here, the drums create movement while the romantic piano line, even with a bit of a jazz feel, carries the love theme throughout. A favorite of many friends.
